Dreamforce 2013 Event Recap

Dreamforce '13

November 17-22, 2013, Moscone Center, San Francisco

You know it is going to be a great week when you have the opportunity to try Google Glass while watching football with friends in an Irish Pub in San Francisco. Thank you Jack Crawford for generously allowing us to ask so many questions about Glass and your usage.

We picked up our badges and swag and quickly checked out the giant inflatable structure at Dreamforce Plaza.

During Tuesday’s Keynote, Marc Benioff announced the launch of Salesforce1. Built around the concept of ‘The Internet of Things’ and ‘The Internet of Customers’, it’s a bit tough to tell if Salesforce1 is a mobile platform, an API enhancement, or possibly a massive re-branding. We are looking forward to working with the platform and getting a feel for what it can really do.

As in the past, Dreamforce does an outstanding job at featuring amazing keynote speakers and guests. This year was no exception. Meg Whitman from HP joined the main keynote. Marissa Mayer and Sheryl Sandberg both participated in separate keynotes with Marc Benioff throughout the week. There was a definite theme around empowering women in technology and it was refreshing to see.

We always enjoy making new friends at Dreamforce and this year was no exception. With over 100,000 attendees, it was a great opportunity to meet new people and share thoughts on emerging technologies and cloud computing. As expected, Mobile and Social were hot topics and it was exciting to see, hear, and experience the innovative ideas on display.

Even with heavy rain, the evening social activities could not be stopped. Blondie and Green Day performed at AT&T Park to benefit the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. Salesforce has always been dedicated to giving back and it was great to be able to participate in the many activities dedicated to charitable efforts.
